EPM Infrastructure

Track sponsored by:

EPM Infrastructure at the ODTUG Kscope 17 Conference

Maintaining a strong Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) infrastructure will ensure that EPM programs and applications remain operationally functional and secure and can handle the growing needs of any business to ensure that all moving parts are running smoothly. At Kscope17, you’ll learn what you need to ensure the health of your EPM infrastructure.

Installs and Upgrades:

Learn how to plan for a successful installation, including architecture leading practices and high availability, and how to manage disaster recovery. We will also cover Hyperion patching and automation best practices as well as the latest methodologies when it comes to planning and executing upgrades.

Operational Support:

Post-implementation is a crucial time and it requires a strategy dedicated to providing operational support. Learn how to plan and implement scalable and sustainable support models, whether done in-house, outsourced, or through a COE. You’ll learn best practices for ongoing operational maintenance for a Hyperion system. We’ll also show you fine tuning and optimization tips, tricks, and best practices for monitoring systems, applications, user experience, and troubleshooting Hyperion.

Maintenance, Optimization, and Troubleshooting:

We’ll teach you how to provide maintenance and support, administer health checks, monitor, problem solve, optimize, and troubleshoot the entire EPM infrastructure to ensure maximum performance and stability.

Many organizations and industries have strict security guidelines, especially at the enterprise level. You’ll learn from the best about managing security for the EPM suite. This includes external provider integration and tuning, single sign-on, Kerberos and Smart Card integration, SSL, access controls monitoring, auditing, and reporting.

Cloud and Hybrid Infrastructure:

Our experts will discuss managing cloud products and the challenges of combined cloud/on-premises system architectures. We’ll review all the planning considerations such as Native Cloud vs. Hybrid, security implications, how to approach and mitigate risk, and considerations for how to approach backup and DR, and integration considerations with on-premise systems and other cloud systems. Topics will include Oracle's Saas, IaaS, and Paas offerings and the impact on Hyperion.

Rehosting Your On-Premises Hyperion EPM Solution on Amazon Web Services
Jiten Majithia , Infratects
Co-presenter(s): Vinesh Unalkat, Infratects Consulting Ltd
When: Jun 28, 2017, Wednesday Session 11, 8:30 am - 9:30 am
Room: Grand Oaks E/F
Topic: EPM Infrastructure - Subtopic: Cloud and Hybrid Infrastructure

The customer made a strategic decision to host its internal operational systems on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Through this strategic IT decision, the customer partnered with Infratects Consulting to upgrade their HFM Financial Reporting platform to v11.1.2.4 and re-host from an internal, on-premise solution to Amazon Web Services, delivering a new/improved finance system serving a user-base across 40 countries.

What are some of the conversation and challenges you are facing when thinking of moving your EPM platform to the cloud? Attend this presentation to hear about some of the key decisions, risks, and business/technology challenges we faced on this journey.

• Basics about on-premise vs. cloud implementations for EPM
• History of the customer’s decision to move to the cloud
• Key business & technology drivers for moving their EPM platforms to Amazon Web Services.
• Architecture delivered for the solution
• Challenges faced and lessons learned during Implementation

The EPM Clouds Are Rolling in Fast! Is It Really Worth Upgrading My On-Prem System Now?
Joe Malewicki , iArch Solutions
When: Jun 27, 2017, Tuesday Session 6 , 8:30 am - 9:30 am
Room: Cibolo Canyon 2/3/4
Topic: EPM Infrastructure - Subtopic: Installs and Upgrades

So it’s here. The storm has been brewing and it looks like this time, we might actually see some weather. Yes folks, Oracle is full tilt on the cloud! Better late than never right? Well, maybe yes, but don’t put up those hurricane shutters just yet.

The reality is yes; everything is headed to the cloud. At some point we’re all going to be wearing our rain jackets and have our umbrellas open as we “sing in the rain” of cloud-based EPM applications. However, this session isn’t about “tomorrow.” It’s about TODAY.

Today you have a fully baked, production running EPM/Hyperion system. You’ve got Essbase cubes crunching data, financial management consolidations firing off daily, planning web forms being updated every week and finally tons of users with a local version of Excel 2010 on Windows 7 complaining daily “Smart View is too slow!” You’ve got IT and risk management stating Microsoft has cut off the version of SQL Server and Windows 4 years ago yet Hyperion is still lingering along on these unsupported platforms. Why? Because you can’t run your business WITHOUT Hyperion.

In this session we’ll help you address and develop a plan with minimal to NO downtime to get your “on-prem” Hyperion installation up to the latest and greatest available from Oracle. We’ll help you decide what makes the most sense for an upgrade path. On-prem hardware, virtualizing, hosted environments, or shared resources. Discussions on 3rd party hosting providers and yes, discussions on Oracle’s Cloud versions of their EPM software stack and how all relates to an upgrade.

We’ll take the mystery out of the upgrade process for the software itself. Discuss the version paths and how to ensure you can get the latest platform support that your organization is comfortable with while still maintaining full support model from Oracle.

You’ll see a LIVE demonstration of “BEFORE” and “AFTER Upgrade” real-world EPM application performance and system functionality.

Finally we will discuss just how inexpensive an on-prem upgrade can actually be. The cost and time savings alone should make you head back to the office and start planning the project.

So please join us for this educational and informative session and let’s get you up to where you should be today!

And remember - someone’s “cloud” is just someone else’s “computer.”
